Ghost Telecom has announced the beta launch of FooCall, its new low cost international telephony service, with the introduction of a mobile calling capability. This initial calling capability has been developed to directly address the pain experienced by today’s mobile consumer, looking to make cheap international calls from their mobile phone but without the hassle of 3rd party applications requiring complicated downloads and setup processes.
FooCall's beta service brings cheap international calling to anyone with an internet enabled mobile phone. Using a mobile phone’s internet browser, FooCall sets up calls to international destinations by calling a number local to the user, with FooCall then forwarding this number to the international recipient. The call is then routed over IP, enabling substantial cost savings over calls made from the same phone at the mobile operator’s international rates.
Michael Camilleri, Ghost Telecom’s Co-Founder & CEO said “FooCall represents a step-change in providing a solution for cheap international calling from a mobile phone. Crucially, the FooCall approach frees consumers from complicated downloads and set-up processes. Also, as the call is made to a local number over GSM or 3G, the call quality is of the same high standard consumers expect when making phone call from their mobile phone.”
Camilleri adds “FooCall is dedicated to providing a cheap international calling service that offers both ease-of-use and some of the lowest international rates available, regardless of calling method. We’re excited about FooCall and what it will mean for consumer’s calling friends and family abroad, during these tough economic times”.
A full service offering with additional product features and improvements are planned for FooCall, including a web phone to make calls from any computer with a web browser, allowing users to access their same FooCall account whether they are in front of a computer or on the move with their mobile phone.
